Seven Questions

Is your RTS battery complete?

Score your return-to-sport testing against the published literature. Every gap comes with the citation behind it.

The gold standard here is not our opinion. It is the published return-to-sport literature: strength symmetry, the hop battery and its limits, psychological readiness, and testing under cognitive load. Answer yes or no. Your score maps each gap to the study that names it.

Self-Assessment

Your current RTS battery

1. Do you test quadriceps strength with a dynamometer, isokinetic or handheld, rather than by manual muscle testing?
2. Do you require at least 90% quadriceps strength symmetry before clearance?
3. Do you run a multi-hop battery: single, triple, crossover, and 6-meter timed?
4. Do you pair hop distance with any measure of how the limb produces the hop, such as jump kinetics or landing strategy?
5. Do you administer a psychological readiness scale such as the ACL-RSI?
6. Do you factor time since surgery into clearance, not just test scores?
7. Do you test reaction and decision-making under cognitive load, with the athlete responding to unplanned cues?
